The following text was provided by Trodat, the maker of our replacement ink-pads.
Stamping a document gives it an official appearance: the impression proves that the document is original and genuine. Indelible inks are a fundamental prerequisite for this.
We have tested our most important colours - black, blue, red and green - for the original Trodat Swop-pads and can confirm that they are indelible in accordance with the German Standard DIN ISO 14145-2.
The criteria for this are:
- non-erasable impression
- ethanol content
- hydrochloric acid content
- ammonia content
- bleach content
- water resistant impression
Clearly visible results
The required visibility of the impression in the standard - the script must be clearly legible - was achieved by all of the above-mentioned colours.
In addition, the accredited Austrian Research Insitute for Chemistry and Technology confirmed that Trodat's black ink has excellent lightfastness values. In a test, a document on which a stamp was used was subjected to 2200 watts of xenon arc light for over 6 weeks. The result: no change in the quality of the impression was detected. Compared with normal usage, this means that a very legible stamp impression is guaranteed for the lifetime of a document: the impression will remain legible for years, even if subjected to direct sunlight.
Guaranteed security
These tests prove that impressions from Trodat self-inking stamps are guaranteed to be secure, provided that a Trodat Swop-pad Original is used.
