Bonnie Ward has taken her adopted daughters' Chinese surname, Chang as her own: "This is the character that represents the 'family name' of my daughters while at their orphanage in ChangDe, Hunan [China] (and we have taken it as our family name now - for our Chinese school and so forth - it seemed fair, as the girls carry my name as their western family name, and now I carry their name as part of my Chinese name: Chang BaoNing)."
